“Calmont Chihuahuas” is named because the two ladies who are Calmont live in California and Montana. We are: Jill Hopper of Upland, California and Sylvia Mattson of Great Falls, Montana.

We became acquainted via one of the early internet Chihuahua chat lists, and found that we shared a common goal of breeding and showing healthy Chihuahuas. Both of us really enjoy a Chihuahua that is “put together” and can really move. A happy, confident, outgoing temperament is important as well – and we have strived to achieve this in our Chihuahuas.

Sylvia whelps and raises most of our puppies. She is a vet tech and has the training and knowledge to help our puppies into the world and see to it that the Chihuahua mommas get the best possible care. She can also give them the best early socialization as she is able to bring the puppies to work to meet a wide range of clients through the day.

Sylvia also competes in performance events and has titled Chihuahuas in Obedience and Rally.
In fact, Sylvia has the honor of owning and handling the first Chihuahua to complete a Rally Title at the Chihuahua Club of America National Specialty.

Jill has a thing for boys – at least that is mostly the gender of the Chihuahuas who live with Jill. Her forte is in the conformation ring where she has handled Chihuahuas to BISS, Group Placements and many AKC Championships.
